This was the first time I’ve made it to the December Critical Mass. Christmas related commitments have got in the way previously. The turnout was comparatively low compared to other months, but actually quite reasonable given the time of year. It was good to see some kids along for the ride, despite it being cold and dark.
We left the almost completed St Peter’s Square via Lloyd Street and into Albert Square. We then took a left down John Dalton Street towards Deansgate.
We crossed Deansgate and continued down Bridge Street, taking a left into Spinningfields. We reemerged on Quay Street, heading towards Deansgate again, and took a right onto it and headed for Knott Mill.
Taking a left onto Great Bridgewater Street gave us the chance to make some more noise as we passed under the bridges of Manchester Central.
At the end, we did a right and a left to get onto Whitworth Street West. We carried on down there until we reached Oxford Street, where we turned left.
We then turned right onto Portland Street, where we carried on down until Chorlton Street. We took another right here and headed for Canal Street and reemerged on Portland Street at the end of Aytoun Street.
We headed for the Northern Quarter, passing through Stevenson Square and down Thomas Street as usual. On High Street, we did a u-turn and took a left down Shudehill, followed by a right onto Dantzic Street at the back of The Printworks.
At this point, Critical Mass split, with some people heading for The Angel and others heading for Sandbar.
