Manchester Critical Mass – May 2016

Another bank holiday weekend for Critical Mass, and the weather didn’t disappoint this month. Don’t know the turnout, but it was definitely higher than recent months, and there was an abundance of sound systems, something that always adds to the atmosphere.

Getting ready to set off

We headed straight from St Peter’s Square towards Princess Street and onto Cooper Street. We carried on down Fountain Street and past the Arndale on High Street. From there, we took a right onto Church Street and headed through the Northern Quarter.

Passing the Arndale on High Street

We headed towards Piccadilly and onto London Road, where we took a left on to Ducie Street. From there, we took a left onto Great Ancoats Street, where we continued until we took a left onto Oldham Street.

Back in the Northern Quarter, we took a right onto Thomas Street, until we were back on High Street. We headed right towards Shudehill, carefully crossing the Metrolink tracks and headed down towards the Printworks. It was then another right, as we carried on down Corporation Street.

Once across Great Ancoats Street, we headed for Angel Meadow Park, where the ride came to an end. At that point, we gathered in the remaining sun and listened to the sound systems until we were informed they needed to be turned off.

Overall, a really lovely sunny Critical Mass, with lots of music and a really good turnout. Quiet roads and a bit of a different route added to make what was a lovely evening.
